The Million Dollar Question… Why?
I’m sure this is a daunting experience for many bloggers around the world and for me its not different. How do I introduce myself to people I’ve never met, it’s one thing doing it in person but doing it over the internet is something I’m finding very, very strange. I suppose I should start with a background about myself and how this blog came about for me.
My name is Kieran, I’m a 22 year old from the U.K and for as long as I can remember I’ve always had an interest in sport and being active, not because my parents forced me into it (I’m sure they wont mind me saying but neither are particularly sporty) but because I enjoyed being with mates and often they would be outside playing (yes believe it or not I did that) some kind of sport . At primary school I was game for anything, from the old athletics events in a random sportshall where the fastest kids in school had to earn the famed accolade in a relay race to orienteering in a muddy country park if I really had to. Yes of course missing compulsory education to go do some sport had a big park to play in it, but for me the feeling of competing pulled me in from a young age.
The Early Days
I think around the age of 8 the local football team left flyers at my primary school, now at 22 years of age I don’t really have many moments that I think were big signposts, crossroads whatever you want to call it in my life but for me, this was definitely one of them. Before this point I’d never expressed much interest in football at all apart knowing that if you hit someone in the head with one on the playground you were in big trouble with the teachers. Anyway, I took the leaflet home from school and begged my parents to let me get involved with the local football team. Luckily for me they did and my love for the sport began, from day 1 (so my dad tells me haha) I think I had some sort of natural talent for football now I’m not sure where it comes from because my Dad has 2 left feet and my Mum is from the Philippines and trust me it’s all basketball there. I spent a year and half with my local football team and then from the age of 9 until now at 22 I’ve been lucky enough to play football professionally and be involved with professional football teams
What Am I Up To Now?
Luckily for me football isn’t a year round sport so allows me for some time to rest, recover and find other hobbies that I enjoy or have an interest in. This very reason is perhaps why this blog has come around, my cousin runs a class in a local gym and when I finished my latest football season I thought I’d get involved. Now these classes aren’t just bench presses and squats but more crossfit based with prowler pushes, ski-ergs the lot, and trust me its a lot more painful. Straight away I was hooked and it made me realised that for me health and fitness was not just about football for me, but that I loved the more general idea of becoming healthier. In the run up to what will be 2022 (here’s hoping for a better year) I thought there would be no better way than to share my views and be able to interact with you readers which I’m assuming because you found this also have interests in similar topics. 1) I feel it will make me as a person more accountable and 2) Get my brain working again because it hasn’t done that in years.
